Chennai, Cuddalore flood relief work report

This is an official report created by Aalayam Foundation for the flood relief work conducted in Chennai and Cuddalore area between 04/12/2015 and 12/12/2015. Though Education for underprivileged in our vision, this disaster has called us to do this relief work on humanitarian grounds.

We heart fully thank the sponsors, donors, volunteers, friends and all our supporters.

Day 1 – 12/04/2015


1) We have sponsored and distributed Biryani, Veg meal, Biscuits, Bread, Milk, Tea, Candles, Match boxes, Tablets, Water bottles for 500+ people in Pallavakkam, Neelangarai, Adayar

1) We have sponsored 100 liters of milk to flood affected children in Thiruvettiyur area

Day 4 – 12/12/2015

Cuddalore area (Sharuhasanpet, Anugampattu, Thoopukollai, Ahathanapuram, Ayikuppam, Melpathi and Vadakkuvellore Neyveli)

1)We were able to reach 1155+ families and distributed Rice, Dal, Vegetable Oil, Biscuits, Sleeping mats, Sarees, Lungi, Towels etc. We received all the materials from Sponsors who shipped from various places like Hyderabad, Trichy, Erode, Vellore and Virudhachalam. Our volunteers collected the materials in Chennai and Pondicherry for packaging and distribution. Pondicherry friends helped us with repacking to family package (6kgs rice + other materials).

Celebrating Joy of Giving Week – 2014

In view of the “Daan Utsav” our champions are visiting a tribal village, Chinnur Colony in Kodaikanal district on 18th Oct 2014. During this visit we are interacting with around 25 children to understand their problems and see how we can help them in their education. As part of our trip we are collecting used clothes for the above mentioned children. We kindly request you to donate any used clothes for the children aged between 5 to 15 years and we will be happy to deliver it on behalf of you!

Now accepting credit/debit card and net banking

On our 1st anniversary, we are very proud to announce that from now supporters can donate to the cause using your credit/debit card or net banking. This feature was requested by many supporters and it will help our supporters to donate quickly and seamlessly. With this update when a payment is successfully supporters can see their payment information immediately.

We have partnered with PayUMoney to process payments online and currently integrated their PayU button. As a payment processor they charge us a percentage (approx. 2.5 to 3%) of every single transaction as service fee to process payments online. As per 100% to beneficiary policy, Aalayam team is going pay the service fee on behalf of the donors.

Organization expenses are 100% funded by core members and NO donations accepted from public

Every single person work 100% as volunteer and NO compensation given

Causes are reviewed 100% genuine to make sure every single donation is reaching the deserving student

How causes are reviewed and approved

Value Statement:

One of our value statement states that,

Only genuine causes should gets approved by Aalayam.

The Review process is based on this value statement.

Aalayam has an extensive Review Process for the beneficiary causes.

Some salient features of this Review Process are:

A total of 5 members constitutes the Review Committee to review and approve the cause for fundraising

Apart from the Review Committee the Champions are involved to verify the cause information update the Review Committee.

A number of documents were verified to validate the identification and the genuine nature of the cause.

All members of the review committee deliberate and present his\her views for everyone else in the team.

We work for consensus from all team members. And a majority of the members needs to approve the cause to collect donations.

Only Aalayam verified causes will be open for public fundraising in the website.
